"an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure..."

Its trite, but it is also true. Avoiding problems with your PC will save you money in the long run, compared with laying out cash for new components or repair jobs.

Preventive Maintenance Saves Time: Saves time? How can taking two hours a month or whatever to perform maintenance save time? Simple: because it saves you the much bigger hassles of dealing with system failures and data loss. Most preventive maintenance procedures are quite simple compared to troubleshooting and repair procedures--now those can really eat up your time at a fantastic rate.

Preventive Maintenance Helps Safeguard Your Data: For most people, the data on the hard disk is more important than the hardware that houses it. Taking steps to protect this data therefore makes sense, and that is what PM is all about.

Preventive Maintenance Improves Performance: Some parts of your system will actually degrade in performance over time, and preventive maintenance will help to improve the speed of your system in these respects.

Maintenance Scope of Work

Scope of Work: CNS will provide a qualified technician to perform software and hardware maintenance on the customers equipment. In the event that a potential hardware issues arises CNS will inform the customer in order to take corrective action.

The following tasks will be performed on each system covered under the On Site Preventative Maintenance program:

  • Analyze system and application logs with a specific emphasis on searching for error conditions that have been logged.
  • Archive the system and application logs as needed.
  • Perform a check on all file systems to determine if there are errors on the hard drives.
  • Check available disk space to ensure that the systems storage is not reaching capacity.
  • Update any software components that need to be updated for the operating system (i.e. Windows, UNIX, or Linux).
  • Analyze the backup system logs and check backup tapes to ensure that backups have been operating correctly.
  • Check the virus scan application to ensure that the software is functioning correctly and that the virus definitions are current.
  • Clean out any unused or unnecessary temporary files from the hard drive.
  • Systems that can be covered under a preventive maintenance plan include desktops and servers.

The goal of the On Site Preventative Maintenance program is to be proactive in identifying potential problems that could cause issues and address them in a timely manner. Any minor problems that are found during the system evaluation will be resolved while the technician is on site. Note: In the event that a major problem is discovered during the system evaluation, additional time may be needed to resolve the issue. The designated customer contact will be notified before any additional work is performed if a major issue is discovered
